Our Story
Anchor15 was founded by Katy Taylor, a seasoned association management professional with experience across every dimension of running a nonprofit organization.
I started in association management as an Event Director, with almost a decade of event experience in various industries. I started my event journey as an Event Director with a restaurant group downtown Chicago and then found my way into hotel sales & event management. Prior to that, I have worked several customer service and administrative roles throughout various industries.
When I came across a small AMC that was looking for an Event Director, I knew it would be a perfect fit. However, even during the interview, I was a bit unsure of what I was truly getting into. I had every skill the role required and recommended, and confidence that I could learn yet another industry.
Four years later, that confidence has turned into expertise. I have worked in every aspect of association management; administrative operations, membership recruitment and processing, strategic planning, governance oversight, event and fundraising management and execution, marketing, board of directors' support, and the list goes on. There is no corner of running a nonprofit organization I haven't worked in directly, and that hands-on range is what shapes how I support every client today.
They tell you that the hardest part about working in association management, is working with and managing volunteers. What they don't tell you is it is actually the most rewarding aspect of the job. Clients from all different industries, from every corner of the globe, and volunteers from every walk of life offer new perspectives on a daily basis. They prove to me time and again, that several individuals providing even the smallest amount of care and effort toward a common goal, create lifechanging impact on the world around us.
I have made incredible relationships along the way, and I have learned more than I would have ever dreamed in that first AMC interview. The passion and dedication of volunteers (and paid non-profit professionals for some organizations) is what lead me to build Anchor15. I'm proud to work alongside those who choose to give their time and expertise to causes that strengthen their industries and communities, beyond their day jobs and routines. Being part of an organization's mission to make the world better is both an honor and a challenge I take on every day.
